Hello,
I would like to put my name forward for consideration as a co-chair for the Health Terminologies Community with another candidate. I am hoping to share this experience with someone else in the field who would also like to be more involved with this community. I have learned so much since its inception. About myself: • I am a certified Health Information Management professional with 23 years' experience in the health care industry, responsible for but not limited to, the development, maintenance, application and implementation of national classification standards to support health care professionals understand and apply clinical data standards within our health care system. • My background includes hospital coding in acute care and SNOMED CT coder (pathology reports), data quality coordinator for submissions to CIHI for acute and ambulatory care, and an Instructor in Coding and Abstracting at the NS Community college in the HIM program. I have been with CIHI since 2009, as a Classification Specialist for 8 years before transitioning to the role of Program Lead in Classifications and Terminologies in 2018. • I am currently leading a project at CIHI to create maps between SNOMED CT and ICD-10-CA to enhance data capture and alleviate coder burden. • I have led and supported projects in mapping SNOMED CT to ICD-10-CA, ICD-9, ICD-9-CM and the Canadian Emergency Department Shortlist (CED-DxS) • I have led and supported a feasibility project to map the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) to SNOMED CT procedure terms. • I am interested in supporting the advancement of SNOMED CT as a clinical terminology to capture health information at point of care and its re-use. • I am interested in opening up the forum to more conversations in support of using SNOMED CT consistently to enhance data capture and use. • I am interested in fostering relationships to advance work on behalf of the Health Terminologies Community and promote knowledge exchange and learning among its members. Thank you for your consideration. Thank you also to Marc and Francis for doing such a great job as outgoing co-chairs. Alana Lane, Program Lead, Classifications and Terminologies, Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) |

Dear Health Terminologies Community (HTC) members:
As discussed at the HTC meeting today, after 2 years Marc and Francis are stepping down from their leadership roles on the HTC. We are actively seeking a leader or co-leaders to lead the community for the next couple of year. If you or someone you know is interested in working with us to take on this role, please do contact us at Cette adresse courriel est protégée contre les robots spammeurs. Vous devez activer le JavaScript pour la visualiser.. We are happy to discuss the role and to discuss the support services Infoway provides to enable the community leaders. We would like to begin the transition in September. Everyone is welcome to "throw their name into the hat". Thank you. Regards, Andrea |
