Hi Alan,
This is definitely something we need to manage. The public server implements the entire specification, where our private server only implements a small subset of it. This means that anyone who tests against the public server can be sure that they are "FHIR compliant" but may not be using features that would work in our production environment. At this point we are addressing this through project specific documentation- i.e. as we start a project we identify which resource types, operations (read, search, create, etc.), and search parameter combinations they intend to use and we make sure that we also support them in our internal environment. A long term hope is that we would publish a UHN Conformance Statement (which is a FHIR resource that can be used to convey all of this information electronically) but we haven't really explored that yet. Cheers, James |

Hi James, is there any concern between a mismatch of functionality between the public FHIR servers and the FHIR server implemented at UHN when external teams are initially testing against the public FHIR servers?

Thank you James for providing a great presentation on UHN's implemenation using HL7® FHIR® as well as the large attendance to the webinar. The presentation is now available for download here: https://ic.infoway-inforoute.ca/resources/docs/hl7/222-uhn-fhir-implementation-webinar-20150512.
Stay tuned for the next HL7 Community webinar! Best regards, Wendy |

Following the HL7® FHIR® Overview provided earlier this month, we are pleased offer a HL7® FHIR® implementation webinar!
Synopsis: University Health Network (UHN) has spent the last year working to adopt FHIR as a way of exposing internal clinical data to development teams and vendors as a way of simplifying our integration architecture and decreasing time-to-market for new applications. This webinar will explore some of the early successes we have seen, the challenges we have faced along the way, as well as our vision of how FHIR will continue to evolve at UHN. Webinar details: Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2015 Time: 12:00 - 1:30 pm, Eastern Daylight Time (New York, GMT-04:00) To join the online meeting: Go to https://infoway-inforoute.webex.com/infoway-inforoute/j.php?MTID=m6ba2d38cbc5db531fc8aff6348e715f5 Teleconference information Call-in toll-free number: 1-866-626-0833 (US) Show global numbers: https://www.tcconline.com/offSite/OffSiteController.jpf?cc=2881268988 Conference Code: 288 126 8988 Add details to my outlook calendar Best regards, Wendy HL7® FHIR® are registered trademarks of Health Level Seven International. |
