Please find my updated version of the Terms of Reference. I'm not completely happy with it as I think we need to have more information on why the Council would ever meet, but I think this simplification does a semi-decent job of detailing what the Council is all about. I've also basically ripped out anything to do with the "Named Voters" as that is not really part of the Council itself. I believe that we need to have a separate document detailing how we fulfill the physical voting process required of us, but that it shouldn't be in the ToR itself.
HL7 Canada Proposed Terms of Reference This will be discussed at tomorrow's conference call. |

Thanks to those that joined our call to discuss the proposed terms of reference for the HL7 Canada Council. We had a good discussion of the role and scope of the Council with respect to the HL7 Community. Based on the discussion, Jean Duteau and Paul Knapp volunteered to redraft the TOR to more accurately reflect a more engaged Council and its activities. A call will be scheduled in approximately 2-3 weeks to review the redrafted TOR.
Thank you. |

Here are my edits and comments:
HL7 Canada Terms of Reference - Jean Duteau's comments and changes I like what our duties are, but I believe that the HL7 Canada Council would then need to meet regularly and get more involved in the Canadian HL7 landscape. When we met in Montreal, I think that this was the gist of our concerns - how can we remain relevant and have a role beyond just voting on HL7 ballots. Although this TOR doesn't address that, it does lay out what the Council's duties are and therefore sets it up to at least try and meet those duties. |
