SIIMCast - Discussion on Ontologies 5 years 8 months ago #5333

Jason, thanks for sharing another great podcast.

I really enjoyed the conversation and appreciated the definition provided by the speakers of an ontology and the history lesson about ontologies as part of the question about overlap between the various terminologies that are out there.

I have posted a copy of Cimino's Desiderata to the forum (https://infocentral.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/resources/docs/imagingdocs/meeting-materials-di/3005-cimino-s-desiderata-for-controlled-medical-vocabularies) as referenced in the podcast for anyone that wishes to learn more.

I also appreciated your question about the translation of terminologies, and the shout out for French here in Canada.

Infoway, with some great volunteers from QC and NB provide the French translation for the pCLOCD (LOINC) to Regenstrief for inclusion in the larger LOINC terminology and of course, we do publish this translation as part of the pCLOCD. You can learn more about the addition of French content to each release in the pCLOCD release notes. (https://infoscribe.infoway-inforoute.ca/display/pCLD/pCLOCD)

Infoway also provides the French translation for SNOMED CT as part of our Canadian edition. The current Canadian edition has >36, 000 translated concepts and you can learn more from the SNOMED CT Canadian edition release notes (https://infoscribe.infoway-inforoute.ca/display/SCT/Current+Release+1).

Again, thanks Jason for letting everyone know about the podcasts. I have really enjoyed what I have heard to date and learn something new with one.
