Dear Bonnie,
Thank you for sending us a similar question regarding LOINC Code 35698-0.This is another great example of where we are working together with yourselves and other implementers to understand your needs and make the necessary changes in pCLOCD to satisfy usage and requirements across Canada. In reviewing LOINC Code 35698-0, MetFORMIN we noted it is yet another active LOINC Code and only inactive in pCLOCD.This decision was made a few years ago. As with the previous code you brought forward, we will work to activate LOINC code 35698-0 in pCLOCD in the impending release - January 2020. For similar requests or any other changes you wish to request for us to review, please use our InfoRMS tool. InfoRMS is our request for management solution helps us track and process requests for completion: https://infocentral.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/tools/collaboration-tools/informs Please let us know if this helps and if you have any additional questions including using the InfoRMS tool by sending us an email at standards@infoway-inforoute.ca Thanks kindly, Linda Monico Senior Specialist, Standards and InfoCentral lmonico@infoway-inforoute.ca |

Good afternoon,
I am in the process of providing pCLOCD codes to one of our RHAs for the implementation of a new panel. While referencing the July 2019 release, I found a change that I would like clarified. The test in question is metFORMIN, reporting units of mcg/mL, performed at the Mayo Clinic using code 35698-0. In the new pCLOCD release, this code is now inactive with a note “Map to 55548-2”. When I checked 55548-2, this code has recommended units nmol/L. As the Mayo Clinic is reporting in units mcg/mL, I am left wondering how to proceed. This is similar to one I sent in 3 weeks ago. Any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards, Bonnie Chipman EHR Informatics Consultant NL Centre for Health Information, 70 O'Leary Ave, St. John's NL, A1B 2C7 |
